Samsung, a vocal supporter of Blu-ray, has begun shipping its first laptop with an HD DVD drive. The specification is currently only available in South Korea. While Samsung has yet to confirm worldwide availability, the product’s appearance would suggest that the Korean giant could be about to adopt a hardware neutral position in the HD DVD vs Blu-ray battle. Its Korean rival LG has already taken this route, with its launch of the so-called Super Multi Blue combination HD DVD Blu-ray player.
