Bond is top of the HD charts. Perhaps unsurprisingly, given that it’s being used as an incentive to lure early PS3 adopters, the Blu-ray release of Casino Royale has shipped 100,000 copies since its release, setting a new record for the number of HD copies of a movie. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment says sales of its Blu-ray titles have risen more than 700 per cent since the arrival of the PlayStation3.
The Harrison Ford thriller Air Force One was the first DVD title to ship 100,000 units. It hit the landmark eleven months after the format’s introduction. Sony Pictures president David Bishop stated: “We feel that we are now looking at HD DVD in our rear view mirror.”
