Toshiba targets Korean and Chinese DVD makers

April 11th, 2007 · No Comments

Toshiba has filed a complaint with the International Trade Commission (ITC) against 17 Korean and Chinese manufacturers which it believes are infringing patents for DVD players and recorders. According to Toshiba, the 17 do not have license agreements with Toshiba nor the DVD6C Licensing Group, which represents the developers of core DVD technology.
As part of its complaint it has requested an injunction to prohibit products from Daewoo, Dongguan, jWIN Electronics, Memcorp, Star Light Electronics, Tonic Digital Products and others from being imported into the US. The Japanese giant is also seeking unspecified monetary damages.
