FED will not rival LCD or plasma concedes Sony

Created with an eye on , Sony affiliate Field Emission Technologies Inc, which opened its doors last December, says that it is looking at professional applications for its upcoming advanced screen tech, and will not be pitching as a rival to established and products. The news will dissapoint those early adopters hoping for a relacement to current flatscreen products.
Field Emission Technologies Chief Executive Shohei Hasegawa says “Our products will be used by professional video creators and broadcasting companies.” He added that while his engineers dream of entering the consumer marketplace, they have to be realistic. The company’s first FED screens are expected in 2009. Doubts still remain as to whether Canon will be able to make a commercial business out of rival SED screens, due in japan this Autumn. Hitachi is also ‘considering’ FED technology.
