Sony says that it will be the first to sell consumer OLED (organic light emitting diode) HD TV screens. The super-thin panels will go on sale in Japan this autumn and will initially be available in eleven inch screen sizes, but larger sizes will follow. The company showed a variety of high resolution OLED panels at this year’s CES. OLED screens consume less power than LCD or plasma but currently have a limited life-span.
