Chinese Government plans to protect LCD makers

April 25th, 2007 · No Comments

Global competition in the flatscreen market is now so fierce that China’s IT regulator, the Ministry of Information Industry, is considering an injection worth billions of Yuan (thought to be around one billion dollars) to protect its emerging LCD manufacturers. While top-line Japanese and Korean panel makers are now on large-screen Gen7 and Gen 8 fabrication plants, Chinese operators remain several generations behind, producing smaller screens which have become subject to cut-throat global pricing.
