HD DVD player sales grow tenfold after price cuts

May 30th, 2007 · No Comments

Toshiba says US player sales have grown tenfold in some retail outlets, following the introduction of price cuts and money-back rebates. Jodi Sally, VP of marketing, comments: “We’re thrilled to see that consumers are, by far, choosing Toshiba HD DVD players as their source for high-definition.” The entry-level Toshiba HD-A2 recently had its price cut to 299 dollars, and has since been sold as low as 238 dollars by amazon.com. Toshiba has also been offering US buyers five free HD DVD movies to sweeten the deal.
