Sony demonstrates flexible OLED prototype

May 30th, 2007 · No Comments

Sony has used the Society for Information Display 2007 International Symposium to show a flexible prototype (pictured). The display uses an organic thin-film transistor backplane mounted on a flexible plastic substrate. The 2.5-inch screen has a resolution of 120×160 pixels; an 8-bit gray scale is said to produce 16.8 million colors. There is no launch date yet set for products using the technology. Exactly what kind of flexible AV kit the technology would enable remains to be seen.
