Robots to patrol Korean schools

June 1st, 2007 · No Comments

Clearly paying no heed to decades of science fiction films, Korean scientists now say that robots will be deployed in schools to protect students. Maker DU Robo says its first security droid, called OFRO, will star in a pilot scheme this summer. Ofro can accelerate to 5 kilometers per hour, and will patrol school grounds using pre-programmed maps. According to a Du Robo spokesman, “One possible scenario is that OFRO will alert officials when it detects someone trying to seduce a student. Then, teachers will send a warning to the perpetrator through a loudspeaker.”
ED 209 anyone?
