Pirates and Neo set HD disc sales soaring

June 3rd, 2007 · No Comments

The first two high-profile HD disc releases of the summer have struck retail gold, pocketing two million dollars between them. Buena Vista’s first two of the Caribbean movies have already sold approximately 47,000 copies each, while the much more expensive Matrix HD DVD sets from Warner have sold approximately 14,000 units.
Worldwide president of Buena Vista Home Entertainment, Bob Chapek, described the performance of Cap’n Jack on BD as a “strong and significant trend toward consumer preference for the Blu-ray Disc format.”
