Arcam senior pens Frankenstein musical

June 4th, 2007 · No Comments

Arcam brand manager Geoff Meads makes music for a living with his brand’s highly regarded hi-fi and AV kit, but soon he’ll be singing an altogether different tune. This August, a musical he’s co-written is staged at venues across the UK. Joined at the Heart, inspired by Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, was a finalist in the BBC’s 2006 ‘World Wide Search for A Musical’ competition.
With Music and Lyrics by Geoff and close pal Graham Brown, it tells the story of Frankenstein’s search for the secret of life. The two hour show features 27 songs by the pair and a script by Frances Anne Bartram. “The show’s been five years in the making” says Geoff, “every minute has been challenging but with the show now in rehearsals you can see all the hard work paying off. I’ve been writing pop songs since my teens but a musical represented a very different proposition. I’m working with a superb team though. It’s certainly is a departure from my day job where there’s more listening to music than writing it!”
Joined At The Heart, with a cast of thirty, receives its world premiere performance at The Junction, Cambridge August 1st- 4th and then moves to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival running from the 12th-18th August at C Venue, Chambers Street, Edinburgh.
