Silicon Optix has produced HD editions of its HQV Benchmark test disc. Available in both Blu-ray and HD DVD formats, as well as original DVD flavour, the discs can be used to determine if a player or display correctly de-interlaces 1080i and SD video sources. According to Silicon Optix’s Jordan Du Val, “consumers will be able to test the high-definition performance of their products to make sure they live up to the manufacturers’ claims. The HD HQV Benchmark is a perfect companion to our very successful standard-definition HQV Benchmark, which tests a product’s ability to up convert standard-definition material.” The discs, which “let anyone objectively evaluate the picture quality of high-definition products, including displays, HD DVD and Blu-ray players, A/V receivers and projectors,” can be ordered from www.hqv.com.
