LCD TV sales tumble, Samsung still on top

June 15th, 2007 · No Comments

Samsung maintained its dominant position in worldwide sales during Q1, but sales across the board declined, according to new data from market research company iSuppli. The biggest loss of share belonged to Philips, which saw sales down 26 per cent from a seasonal peak in Q4. As a result its worldwide ranking drop from two to three; an inability to control both prices and stock levels was blamed. Sony moved into second position by default, but also saw a 13.7 per cent decline in its shipments.
Overall, the LCD market was down 8 per cent during the quarter, with sales of 13.99 million screens.
