Hitachi pledges increased support for LCD TVs

June 17th, 2007 · No Comments

Hitachi is broadening its range of LCD flatscreens, with a range including 26-, 32- and 37-inch models. “The average consumer is telling us that they do not want a 42inch Plasma because his/her living room is not big enough for the larger models” admits David Oldroyd, Hitachi’s Chief Executive Officer. “We’re a mass market brand and we will not ignore the demand for the smaller screens.” Hitachi’s new LCD factory in the Czech Republic opens for business in July. It has the capacity to produce 80,000 s each month.
The brand says it will continue to aggressively support plasma at larger screen sizes, with 50-inch and 42inch models. The brand’s current 50-incher, the P50T01, has a panel resolution 1280 x 1080, while its 42-inch P42TP01 model has a resolution of 1024 x 1080. Hitachi says: “At a normal viewing position of 1.8 meters the P50T01 gives exactly the same viewing ratio as at a cinema – so viewers will get the ‘biggest’ experience even in relatively small spaces.”
