The Media Centre PC may not have proved a breakthrough success for Microsoft but that hasn’t diminished the software giant’s desire to claim a significant slice of the consumer electronics market. In what could be a far-reaching move, it has inked a deal with Chinese OEM TV maker Sichuan Changhong Electric Co to produce a range of internet-to-TV products. As part of the arrangement, Microsoft becomes a strategic investor in Sichuan Changhong. The duo will develop home network digital entertainment devices for possible worldwide sale.
