Sony says no to super-sized LCD TV

June 30th, 2007 · No Comments

Sony says it will not be drawn into a ‘my screen is larger than yours’ shootout with rivals Sharp and Panasonic. The world’s biggest screen vendors routinely score points off each other by announcing and showing unfeasibly large screens, particularly during the trade show season. But Sony’s president and electronics CEO Ryoji Chubachi has given notice that he’ll peg big screen bragging at 82-inches, arguing there’s little point producing super-large panels. Panasonic has been selling (apparently quite successfully) a 103-inch screen and Sharp has demonstrated a 108-inch prototype .
