Don’t expect to wait too long for that much anticipated PlayStation 3 price cut. Latest figures from Japanese video game magazine publisher Enterbrain Inc reveal that Nintendo’s Wii outsold the Sony machine by 3-1 during the first six months of 2007. It believes that 1.77 million Wiis were sold, compared to just 500,000 PS3s.
It’s not all doom and gloom though. Sony says that in Europe, the PS3 has driven Blu-ray sales past the 180,000 mark for the first time. According to Sony Pictures VP Matt Brown “The launch of the PS3 had a tremendous impact on Blu-Ray software sales across the board. Recent sales figures are a clear indication that the PS3 is seen as an entertainment device.”
