Blu-ray player with bitstream output announced

July 12th, 2007 · No Comments

A player to be launched later this year by Samsung will be the first to offer a bitstream output for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio via HDMI v1.3. Users will be able to route the next generation audio codecs to AV receivers with decoders on board. Samsung itself will be offering a matching home cinema system, the HT-AS720, with HDMI v1.3 connectivity and decoders for the next-gen sound formats. The player can also convert Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD and output the multi-channel soundtracks as L-PCM over HDMI.
