BT to increase broadband speeds for new BT Vision services

July 15th, 2007 · No Comments

BT will introduce faster internet connections for its broadband customers, perhaps as early as first quarter next year, as part of an ongoing strategy to increase the functionality of its BT Vision V-box. A spokesperson told AV zombie that the speed hike “would only be rolled out when BT had upgraded all of its exchanges and could offer all customers the same service.” Untapped functionality in the BT Vision box includes the ability to pause TV automatically when the phone rings; callers on a video phone could even appear on the TV screen. A webcam attached to the currently dormant USB slots on the PVR would also allow the callers to see the BT Vision owner.
BT has confirmed that a major firmware update for the V-box will be released in the autumn.
