Consumers unable to tell hi-def from standard definition

July 20th, 2007 · No Comments

Consumers are still confused about high definition technology, according to new figures, and struggle to tell high definition from SD. Russ Crupnick, from the NPD group, says that while 10 per cent of US consumers believe they have a high definition player, only one per cent actually do. What’s more, 83 per cent of reported high-definition disc purchases are in reality standard definition DVDs.
Nearly half of all US households that have s are not watching any hi-def TV programming at all, according to statistics.
