Mickey Mouse to raise Blu-ray awareness

Panasonic has teamed up with Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment to preach the gospel according to . The pair will take to the road for a ‘Magical Blu-ray Tour’ of 18 US shopping malls. Visitors will get to experience the tech through interactive kiosks and via demonstrations of BD in a small cinema. The Mickey Mouse company concedes that while Blu-ray has about a 70 per cent market share of the HD market in the US, courtesy of the , many of these consumers are not yet buying Blu-ray discs. Dick Cook, chairman of The Walt Disney Studios says: “There are so many high-definition-enabled households not taking full advantage of its capabilities, and we hope to change that with the Disney Magical Blu-ray Tour.”
“Our goal with the Disney Magical Blu-ray Tour is to reach as many people as possible and to help educate the consumers across all demographics,” adds Bob Chapek, Walt Disney president.
