US CE business worth 160 billion dollars

July 20th, 2007 · No Comments

According to new numbers released by the Consumer Electronics Association, US sales of consumer electronics will burst through the 160 billion dollar barrier in 2008. The biggest contributor to this sales bonanza will be screen technologies. This year the TV sector is predicted to earn 26 million dollars alone, with more 30 million flatscreens shipped. The CE accessories market is also seen as a huge money-spinner. The CEA forecasts accessories sales will reach almost 9 billion dollars by the end of 2007, with more than 317 million accessories shipped.
According to CEA president and CEO Gary Shapiro, the consumer electronics industry is “changing the lives of consumers every day by creating the products and innovations they love. Our latest industry projections demonstrate that consumers simply cannot live without their consumer electronics.”
