Disney introduces new multimedia CD format

The Disney operation is not known for technical innovations, but that hasn’t stopped its music label Hollywood Records from introducing a new multimedia audio format, dubbed (CD View Plus). This CD variant offers standard CD music plus a variety of multimedia extras playable on a computer, including a digital magazine, song lyrics, photos and more.
The first release to use the format, from the Jonas Brothers, is released in the US on August 7. News of CDVU+ follows the introduction of , a multimedia high resolution DVD format from Warner. Both initiatives are designed to counter falling revenues form traditional CD sales. Coming soon on CDVU+ are albums from Hilary Duff, The Cheetah Girls and Atreyu.
