Denon announces Blu-ray, first Profile 1.1 player

Denon has announced its first player. The model, due in the autumn, looks likely to be the first machine to comply with Profile 1.1, the mandatory new specification for the BD format which enables picture-in-picture playback of a separate audio and video streams for full BD Java interactivity.
Expected to sell for 1,999 dollars, the player will sport an HDMI v1.3a output able to deliver a bitstream Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio output for decoding in a separate compatible receiver. The BD player will spin CDs, but not DVD Audio or SACD discs. Interestingly in another first, the machine will also incorporate Realta’s highly regarded HQV processing, to upscale SD DVD to .
