Sharp to open first LCD TV panel park

August 2nd, 2007 · No Comments

Sharp plans to spend billions of Yen on an audacious 10th generation panel making facility, in Sakai Osaka. Describing the project as “manufacturing complex for the 21st century” the leader says it will encourage component suppliers to join it at what will be the world’s first panel making industrial park.
Asahi Glass, currently the world’s number 2 supplier of glass for substrates, says it will open a facility on the site, as will Dai Nippon Printing, a maker of key components for LCD screens. The complex is scheduled to open March 2010.
