More than half of all UK TVs sold are still analogue

August 7th, 2007 · No Comments

More than half the TVs still being sold in the UK lack integrated Freeview digital tuners. Sales figures from market research analyst GFK reveal that more than four million analogue sets have been sold over the past twelve months. By way of comparison, just over three million Freeview-enabled sets were sold during the same period. In total approx 7.5 million TV sets were sold over the past year.
The continuing high-sale of analogue televisions implies that the majority of UK TV buyers are not planning for the region-by-region digital switch-over, and may even be unaware that analogue broadcasting will cease in 2012.
