LCD market share to rocket, HDTV interest dips in the US

By 2011, screens will represent almost 75 per cent of the worldwide TV market. So predicts market research firm In-Stat. After an exhaustive study, it concluded that during the same period, the market share of plasma screens will fall to less than 15 per cent. Its study of worldwide markets also found that while international interest in high definition TV is growing, US consumers are actually losing interest in , noting that interest in HD has fallen from 17 per cent in 2006 to 13 per cent in 2007. Those who claim to be ‘least interested’ in HD rose to 65 per cent.
French and South Korean consumers are most interested in HD, registering 44 and 40 per cent respectively.
