Onkyo TX-SR605 named receiver of the year

August 23rd, 2007 · No Comments

The European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) has named Onkyo’s TX-SR605 7.1 channel receiver EISA European home theater receiver 2007-2008. The model, which sells for 400 pounds in the UK, was the world’s first to incorporate onboard decoding of Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD.
Commenting on the award the EISA judging panel issued the following statement: “Onkyo’s TX-SR605 is a very talented performer. It’s the first AV Receiver to include HDMI 1.3, and offer decoding of new sound formats such as DTS-HD and Dolby True HD. But it’s also a powerful home cinema amplifier that provides a true 7.1-channel output, compatibility with 1080p and Deep Color (xvYCC) video signals, as well as Faroudja de-interlacing. The built-in Audyssey 2EQ enables swift and easy automatic calibration in any room, but what’s really amazing is the extremely competitive price. The Onkyo is a superb future-proof buy for the true enthusiast and the more cost-conscious consumer alike.”
Says David Anderson, general manager of Onkyo UK: “Today’s generation of home cinema separates can deliver amazing standards of performance. As a company we feel honoured that EISA has recognized that our TX-SR605 receiver, one of six new high-specification receivers that we have launched this year, is the leading model in its category. We shall repay EISA’s faith by continuing to deliver consumers products that continue to push the boundaries of audio/video technology.”
