Sony not green enough says Greenpeace

August 23rd, 2007 · No Comments

Sony’s plan to open electronic equipment recycling plants across the US has been branded as inadequate by Greenpeace. Sony says it will open 75 recycling plants across the US where owners of obsolete Sony gear can off-load goods free of charge. Other company’s goods can also be dumped, for a fee. It’s this pay-per-dump policy has angered environmentalists.
“Sony has committed to individual producer responsibility in Europe, and yet it supports fees in the US that go against the idea. That’s a double standard,” argues Greenpeace’s Zeina Alhajj.
