The rise and rise of PC TV

August 30th, 2007 · No Comments

The PC is becoming increasingly important for TV fans. According to a new survey from ABI Research, 50 per cent of Americans now watch some form of telly via their PC. 72 per cent admit to watching video via their browser, from sites such as YouTube, while 65 per cent use their PCs to enjoy DVDs. However, less than 7.1 per cent are watching (and recording) TV delivered from a PC tuner card or USB tuner.
Increasingly, traditional networks are viewing the internet as the next major TV delivery system. News Corp. and NBC Universal have just announced beta testing of their long-awaited joint venture internet TV service, amusingly christened Hulu.
