Philips brings Ambilight from back to front

August 31st, 2007 · No Comments

Philips has unveiled the latest generation of its Ambilight technology at IFA. The so-called Aurea range extends the backlighting system to the entire front-frame of the screen. The company says that the front-facing LED array will “seduce viewers by light.” The first screen is a 42-inch 1080p model featuring the latest iteration of the company’s proprietary Perfect pixel HD Engine. The 42PFL9900D, which also boasts a 3ms response time for reducing image blurring, will ship in the autumn.
