Sony unveils high-end ES Blu-ray player

September 6th, 2007 · No Comments

Sony has announced a new high-end Blu-ray player for the US market. The BDP-S2000ES fits into the brand’s ‘audiophile’ ES range and features a significantly enhanced build-quality from the already announced BDP-S300 and BDP-S500 players.
Priced at 1,300 dollars the 1080p/24 model utilizes a so-called ‘dual shield construction,’ to reduce vibration. However, like it’s cheaper new stablemates, it does not conform to Blu-ray Profile 1.1.
Says Chris Fawcett, vice president of marketing for Sony Electronics’ Home Product Division: “Support of our Blu-ray Disc products has been outstanding and the new models are targeted to satisfy the demand of those who crave an even greater level of entertainment and performance. From the enthusiast level of our ES line down to the entry-level models, our commitment to the finest quality video and sound delivered by the BD format has never been stronger.”
