Toshiba plans on beaming a generation of Star Trek fans up to its HD disc format this autumn, when the legendary sci-fi series makes its high definition debut exclusively on HD DVD. The Original Series box set, which features a high definition make-over of the original Trek show, complete with new special FX and extras, will only be available in an HD DVD/DVD combo format.
As part of a special promotion, US buyers who snap up the Trek Season One set along with a third generation Toshiba HD DVD player will get a limited-edition phaser-style remote control.
