Spidey ushers in 10 millionth 50GB Blu-ray

Sony is celebrating another Blu-ray milestone: the production of its 10 millionth 50 gigabyte disc, the soon-to-be released Spider-Man 3. The company says that yields on BD production are now beginning to approach those of standard DVDs. According to Sony DADC’s Bob Hurley, 25GB discs production of 25GB discs have 85 per cent efficiency, with 50GB production peaking at 79 per cent. In total, more than 50 million Blu-ray discs have been made by Sony’s replication plants worldwide.
