Sharp opens first US LCD plant

October 17th, 2007 · No Comments

Sharp has opened North America’s first panel plant. The 200m dollar operation is located in Baja California and can produce LCD panels sized between 42- and 52-inches, directly from glass substrates flown in from the company’s Kameyama plant in Japan. Initial capacity is 200,000 units a year, but this is expected to double by 2009.
