1080p screens better for 1080i content says DisplaySearch

October 23rd, 2007 · No Comments

Speaking at the recent Future of HD conference, DisplaySearch president Ross Young says the move to 1080p panels will prove a big retail opportunity for dealers and panel makers alike. Although some critics argue that the visible benefits of 1080p are restricted to larger screens only, Young maintains that “1080p resolution offers the best picture, you can see more content with better detail. And while most programming is offered in 1080i by broadcasters, it scales better to than 720p.”
The price of 1080p products has fallen by over 40 per cent over the last year, but with supplies tightening DisplaySearch says similar price drops are not expected over the coming year.
