Blu-ray outsells HD DVD but gap narrows

October 29th, 2007 · No Comments

movies discs have outsold rival format by a margin of approximately two-to-one during 2007, according to a market study by trade title Home Media Magazine. The publication says 2.6 million BDs were purchased during the period compared to 1.4 million HD DVD discs. However analysts expect the margin to narrow as new HD DVD-only titles from Universal and Paramount come to market during the peak autumn season. Paramount says that the HD DVD release of Transformers alone sold 190,000 copies during its first week of sales.
