October 31st, 2007 · No Comments

Panasonic will become the first brand to ship a Profile 1.1 player. The company, which itself has kept a low-profile in the format war, says it will ship its ‘Final profile’ DMP-BD30 into US stores in a matter of days. The deck, which will be priced at 500 dollars, will support BD Java picture-in-picture with audio switching (allowing users to flip sound between the main and sub video windows).
The DMP-BD30 also features HDMI 1.3B with support for Deep Colour, Viera Link and 1080/24p playback for a judder free picture. According to Gene Kelsey, VP of the Panasonic Entertainment Group, the player will “contribute greatly to Blu-ray’s mounting lead over the competing format.” A European launch for the player is expected early next year. The Blu-ray disc association has begun its largest promotional push for the format stateside. The multi-million dollar ‘I Do Blu’ campaign will cover TV, print and online across the US.
