The UK’s HD industry has received a significant boost after all five major broadcast channels pacted to launch a high-definition service each by late 2009, using whatever platforms are available. C4 has already confirmed that it will launch an HDTV service on Sky this December. The broadcasters hope to deliver their HD channels on Freeview by the completion of the digital switchover in 2012.

Don’t get too excited! This will only be happening if the government allocate the spectrum to HD freeview. The government would rather make billions auctioning the spectrum off.
