Buoyed by improved sales, Sony now believes that the PlayStation 3 can show the same kind of commercial legs as the PS2. “The momentum shift and the energy behind PS3 in time for Christmas is extremely fortuitous,” says CEO Sir Howard Stringer. “This momentum now is the same as it was with PlayStation 2.”
Sony is likely to benefit from continuing supply shortages for the Nintendo Wii, where worldwide demand continues to outstrip supply.
