Harry Potter heralds online movie screening parties

November 23rd, 2007 · No Comments

Continuing to push the interactive envelope, Warner’s US release of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will feature a unique ‘Live Community Screening’ viewing option. Owners of internet connected HD DVD players can watch the movie via their own players, with one host controlling playback. This ‘community’ can then talk to each other via a Live Chat option.
In related news, the DVD Forum Steering Committee has approved an amended specification for the HD DVD standard. Version 2.0 allows for the adoption of a 51 GB triple-layer HD DVD disc. Software using the media could become available in 2008.
