We can win HD disc war, says Stringer, because…

Some two weeks after commenting that the HD disc format war is at “stalemate” Sony CEO Howard Stringer now says that can still defeat . “It isn’t the cheaper format,” he admits, “but it is the better format.”
Talking to trade magazine The Hollywood Reporter, Stringer added: “Our partners are with Blu-ray disc because, first of all, we have greater security, which Fox is particularly good at. Disney thinks it’s a better picture. And the sheer amount of bandwidth on the disc gives directors and beyond all kinds of future opportunity, including director’s cuts and who knows what 3D capabilities will be down the road.”

“Disney thinks itís a better picture”

lol, nice way to fabricate a “fact” that BD has superior image quality to HDDVD, but without having to prove it. “My mate thinks our picture is better”. Also makes me laugh how Sony are so keen to have PS3 sales included in BD player unit sales stats, until we start talking about attachment rates. I have no loyalty to either side, but this stuff makes me choke on my cornflakes.
