For a time it was the talk of the internet, now the world’s cheapest HD DVD player is coming to the UK. Looking not unlike Toshiba’s new HD-EP30, the Venturer SHD7001 (pictured above) will make its debut via shopping channel QVC on December 29, when it will be the featured product of the day (aka ‘Today’s Special Value’). The model offers a 1080i video output with Dolby TrueHD audio decoding, plus a LAN Ethernet connection and will be bundled with HDMI lead and hi-def discs of Hulk and Troy, for an expected price of 199 pounds.
David Rouse, Venturer Sales Director says: “We are very excited about this product launch. At last it’s an affordable disc solution for the many thousands of HDTV owners.” For more visit www.venturer.eu.com

Hardly ’super cheap’. The Toshiba EP30 is available from Amazon.co.uk, with 7 HD-DVDs for £194.99.
