Xbox 360 video download service begins December 11

December 5th, 2007 · No Comments

The long-awaiting Xbox 360 video download store will finally open for European business on December 11. Gamers in the UK, France and Germany will be able to download both standard and high definition movies and TV shows to their hard drives, for a few pounds a pop. Content is initially coming from Warners, and will include 300, The Matrix, TMNT and the Harry Potter franchise.
Robin Truchy, European director of Xbox Live, says: “We want to give consumers the entertainment they want, in the format they want, when they want it and at an affordable price. We are already offering HD games, HD music videos and the option to enjoy HD DVD format films, now we are offering HD movies to download and rent as well.”
This will be the first multi-territory VOD service to be launched in Europe. Currently, around 60 per cent of Xbox owners go online via Xbox Live.
