Digital switchover message getting through, PVR sales boom

According to new research from Digital UK and Ofcom, the message about the looming digital switchover is getting through and sales of Freeview PVRs are booming. Digital UK says: “For the first time more than half of people buying digital television equipment say thay have been influenced by the forthcoming digital switchover; a majority of television recorders now sold are digital.”
In a poll, 52 per cent of those questioned said that that switchover was important in influencing their decision to go digital.  53 per cent of TV recorders purchased in October were digital, up from 29 per cent in October 2006. The percentage of integrated digital large screen televisions sold in October was up 96 per cent, according to polling carried out by market analyst GfK. Overall sales of TV equipment is up nearly 30 per cent year on year, 75 per cent of which is digital ready.
