Sony will finally introduce Blu-ray players compliant with the Profile 1.1 and 2.0 specification of the hi-def format this summer. The Profile 1.1 BDP-S350, which will have a US street price of 400 dollars, comes with a LAN connector, but it will not be compatible with BD Live straight out of a box. Buyers will need to update the fiirmware at a later date.
The S350 will be joined later in the year by the BDP-S550 (expected to sell for 500 dollars) which will be BD-Live aware. Both players will have a USB connector for playing-out files from external sources.
