Kuro DNA will live on says Pioneer

March 10th, 2008 · No Comments

Speaking after the announcement that Pioneer will cease plasma panel production, Russ Johnston, Pioneer Electronics’ US marketing and product development senior VP, told US trade magazine TWICE that the company still believes plasma “is the critical component for display in the home theater environment that we are focused on.”
Johnston suggests that from 2009, Pioneer will still be able to sell Kuro screens with characteristic black levels, as other panel vendors have begun to embrace its style of glass cell-structure. He also suggests that Pioneer’s first LCD screens, due in the UK Q4 and sourced from Sharp, will come with ‘Kuro DNA’, meaning superior black levels and contrast.
