LG cranks up Research and Development, looks to sign foreign experts

LG is ramping up its Research and Development divisions. The LG Group says it plans to invest more than 3 trillion won in developing and improving new technology, a jump of 11.1 per cent. 2.5 trillion won of this will be channeled in electronics; with 400 billion won going into chemicals and 100 billion won into telecommunications. LG now has 20,000 staff involved in R&D. The company says that it also wants to work with non-Korean AV experts. At the recent CES, the brand revealed a range of prototype audio equipment designed by US audio engineer Mark Levinson.
