Onkyo took the AV receiver market in the UK by storm during 2007, thanks to advanced specifications and some great reviews in the specialist press. Now the brand is hoping to catch lighting in a bottle twice, with a new updated budget range. Although no prices have been announced for its two new entry-level 7.1-channel AVRs , the TX-SR506 and TX-SR576 (pictured) will sell for 299 dollars and 399 dollars respectively in the US. The SR506 features a video-only HDMI 1.3a connection with 1080p passthrough offering Deep Color support. The SR576 has an HDMI input with video and audio pass-through plus on-board Dolby TrueHD decoding. Both offer Audyssey’s 2EQ room calibration technology, plus Dynamic EQ technology, to maintain volume levels between sources. Also new this year is a music optimizer, designed to make the most of compressed audio. The company has yet to release any details for its highly anticipated mid-and high-end models.
