In what could be a trend-setting deal, Warner says it will release new movies on DVD day and date with availability on the UK’s leading Video on Demand services. The move will allow subscribers to Sky Box Office, BT Vision, Virgin and Xbox Live to download and view titles for 3.95 pounds. Viewers will need to watch the titles within a 24 hour window.
Josh Berger, managing director of Warner Bros UK, says: “We’re incredibly excited about this new, innovative consumer offer. By being the first in the UK to make some of our movies available on the same day to buy on DVD and to access digitally, we and our partners are helping to satisfy growing consumer desire from our customers to see what they want, how, where and when they want it.”
